Performance video
Before the performance, there were many booths set up in the Lobby. These include advertisements from various sponsors, and activities in which children can interact with. Also, there was a dinner where guests could buy food and drinks.
The hosts first started by welcoming sponsors and major volunteers to come up to the stage and a little insight on the upcoming performances.
Next, Lion Dancers, who were performed by volunteers paraded around the stage. As well as a dragon, three lions joined in the fray.
Once the Lion Dancers had finished their performance, the children of Arlington came up to the stage to dance and sing "Happy New Year".
After the performance by the Arlington children, performers danced to the song "Good Start" or " 开门红 "
After the song and dance "Good Start", students from Arlington High School recited "Taste of the Lunar New Year" and "Chinese Language"
Next, Ke Qingen performed the classical tune "The Silent of the Deep Night" or "夜深沉 " using the Chinese instrument Er Hu
Dancers from We Dance Boston then perform the Chinese traditional dance "Flower Fairy" or " 古典舞 花妖"
After that, Lili Cao and Qingen Ke performed the dance "The Red Maid" or "京剧 红娘 "
Children from the Ottosen Middle School Mandarin Class then performed "The Moon Represents My Heart" or " 月亮代表我的心" instructed by Teacher Lu
Also, six families worked together to put out a unique performance: "Journey to Spring Mountain" or " 上春山 "
Arlington High School Students worked hard to make a presentation about how different Asian Countries celebrated Chinese New Year.
Once the presentation was over, New England Wushu Academy gave us a stunning performance of Chinese Martial arts.
Once the Martial Arts Academy finished, a senior Chinese dance group in Arlington performed "A Joyful Song of Good Fortune" or " 吉祥欢歌 "
Next, the audience enjoyed the song and dance "Love You" or " 爱你 "
Then, a musical instrument performance took place. The performers played a famous piece of Cantonese Folk Music "Step by Step Ascending" or "弦乐-步步高"
Finally, for the closing song, WeDanceBoston took the stage again and welcomed the audience to join them as they performed the modern dance "Eman" or " 广场舞 娥嫚 "
As the show drew to an end, audience members, volunteers, and performers were all in a great mood and happily celebrated the start of a new year. Not only was everyone excited, but the hosts also shared out a few more words of gratitude for everyone who had come to the amazing celebration of the Year of the Snake.
